Restaurant Review No.2 - Red Fish Blue Fish
Red Fish Blue Fish is located in the heart of Victoria's Inner Harbour. Surrounded by boats on one side and Wharf Street on the other, RFBF is located inside a couple of retro fitted shipping containers right on the wharf. Very modern, very green and very yummy.
We've visited RFBF on several occasions and the service is always quick and friendly, and the food is consistently great. The one thing that always strikes us as we mill around the wharf waiting for our orders is that the place is always busy. Everyone is happy and comfortable with the line-up, the lack of seating, and the buzz of the seaplanes coming in for a landing. In the inner harbour, the planes land every half hour or so and they're good fun to watch while you wait for your fish.
The halibut is moist inside and surrounded by batter--crispy to perfection. Neither the fish nor the fries ever taste overly greasy. The tuna tacone (grilled tortilla hand rolls (taco-cones)) are one of my favourites. This sustainable 100% Ocean Wise tuna is delicately grilled on the outside and just slightly rare on the inside. The tacone is topped with spicy spot prawn mayo + pea shoots + lemon pickled onions. The BBQ wild salmon is also on the must try list. It is "respectfully" seasoned and basted with lemon honey and served with fries or salad. Fantastico!
When in the city, stroll down to RFBF and enjoy a great meal with Victoria's inner harbour as your backdrop. This fish shack is a "must do" during the summer months.
